Definition of Knowledge

The Shaykh حفظه الله began with a definition of ‘ilm (knowledge). In the Arabic language it means ‘understanding’ or ‘knowing’, and its Sharee’ah (legislation) meaning is: ‘knowing the Deen (Religion) of Islaam with evidences’ .

From amongst the best of what I am aware of regarding the definition of knowledge is what al-Haafidh Ibn Rajab رحمه الله has mentioned in his book The Virtues of the Knowledge of the Salaf above the Knowledge of the Khalaf. He رحمه الله said concerning knowledge:
” Knowledge is light which is cast into the heart. With it the servant understands the truth, and with it he distinguishes between truth and falsehood; and he articulates this with concise expressions which achieve the intent (goal)”

The meaning of “light which is cast into the heart” is not from the realm of inspiration, or that an individual awakes from sleep or from inattentiveness and then finds knowledge in his chest. However, it is with an abundance of seeking knowledge and ‘ibaadah (worship) and a desire to follow the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه و سلم, and to act upon this knowledge , put it into practice and teach it to the people. This is one of the highest stations of subservience to Allaah سبحانه و تعالى . So if a servant fulfils this, Allaah سبحانه و تعالى casts into his heart understanding of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah and makes him from the People of Understanding.

Ta’aruf- “Is deen kay ‘ulama kaun hain?”

Shaykh al-Allamah Ahmed Muhammed Uthman Al-Munayee (Allah inki hifaazat karey) is waqt k ‘ulamoun k beech mein kaafi mashoor hain aur Allah ki wahdaniat aur rasool ki sunnat e taraf bulaney ke lieey bohot mustaid hain. Yeh beintiha masroof rehtay hain, aur Islam aur Imaam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhaab رحمه الله k daawey k baarey mein jo jo ghalat fehmiya hain, unko dour kernay ki inki koshishein beintiha hain.  Hum inkey badey shukurmund hain k itney masroof honey k bawajood unho ney humarey liye waqt nikaala. Aur hum Allaah سبحانه و تعالى sey yeh dua kertay hain k inko iska bahut sawaab dein aur Allah barkat naazil farmaye inki koshishoun aur inkey ‘ilm pey.

Shaikh ka ta’aruf is mouzou per

Shaikh ney shourou kiya Allah key naam sey aur Uski taareef sey aur phir Huzoor صلى الله عليه و سلم ,  unkey khandaan, unkey sahaabiyoun, aur hur woh shaqz jo unhein achaayi mein follow karey, in sub pey shaikh ney salaam aur salaah bheji. Phir unho ney kaha k unko is baat ki bahut khushi hai kay woh is mehfil mein apney bhayyoun aur bhenoun k saath shareekh ho sakey. Phir Shaikh Al-Munayee ney is baat ki tasleem ki kay shaikh Zahid (jinho ney shaikh ki introduction ki thi) ney jin cheezoun sey inki taareef ki hai, woh us cheez kay layik nahi hain, aur phir yeh kaha k beshuk mein (shaikh Al-Munayee) sirf aik taalib-e-ilm houn.

Phir shaikh ney kaha kay inshallah aaj woh is beintiha zaroori mouzou pey baat karey gein: “Islam k ‘Aalim kaun hain? aur kinsey hummey ‘ilm haasil kerna chahiy?”

Introduction to the Shaykh

Shaykh al-Allaamah Ahmed Muhammed Uthmaan Al-Munayee حفظه الله is well-known among the scholars and imaams of our time and is very active in the fields of Da’wah, calling to the tawheed of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى and the Sunnah of Rasool Allaah صلى الله عليه و سلم . He is extremely busy and his efforts are countless in clarifying the misconceptions about Islaam and the Da’wah of Imaam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhaab رحمه الله. We thank him for making himself available to us regardless of his tight schedule, and we ask Allaah سبحانه و تعالى to reward him tremendously and bless him in his knowledge and his efforts.

Shaykhs’ Introduction

The Shaykh حفظه الله began with the basmallah and by praising Allaah سبحانه و تعالى and by sending salaah and salaams upon our Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and his family and his companion and those that follow him in goodness until the Day of Judgment. He then said that it pleases him to participate with his Muslim brothers and sisters in this particular gathering. He then acknowledged that Shaykh Zaahid described him with what he is not really deserving of, as he is just a student of knowledge.

He then said that inshaa Allaah he would be dealing with this very important topic: Who are the scholars and from whom should knowledge be taken?

“Islam kay sachey ‘Ulama kaun hain?”- is topic ki waja meray mutaabiq

Assalamoalaikum bhaayoun aur bhenoun,

Inshalllah, mera naya project is aik sawaal ka jawaab denay ki koshish karey ga jo key beintiha zaroori hai, aik aisa sawaal jo key shayid hur musalmaan aaj kal phoochta hai.  Jab bhi koi dou musalmanoun mein ikhtalaaf kissi deeni cheez pey hota hai, to Quran wa’jey hummey yeh batata hai k us maamley ko Quran aur Sunnat k paas waapis lei ker jao taakey tumhey uska hul miley. Allah ‘taala farmaatey hain Quran majeed mein,

“Aei iman waaloun! farmaan-bardari  karo Allah ta’ala ki aur farmaan-bardari karo rasool (sal-Allahu-alaihi-wasallam) ki aur tum mein sei ikhtiyaar waloun ki. Phir agar kisi cheez mein ikhtilaaf karo to ussey lawtaou Allah ta’ala ki taraf aur rasool ki taraf, agar tumhey Allah ta’ala pur aur qiyaamat k din pur imaan hai, yeh bahut behtar hai aur ba’itebaar anjaam key bahut acha hai (surah nisaah, ayah 59)”

To phir is ayah sey yeh waazey hai k agar hum logoun mein koi ikhtilaaf ho to hum Quran aur Sunnat ki madud haasil karein.  Aur yeh baat bhi bahut waazey hai k hum jaisey logoun k paas itna ‘ilm nahi k yeh kaam khud ker sakein, to phir hum pey yeh laazim hota hai k hum unlogoun sey madud lein k jinkey paas yeh ‘ilm hai, kiyoun key Allah ney rasool (sal-Allahu-alaihi-wasallam) ko bhi huqm diya tha, k ager tum (muhammed) nahi jaantey to phir unsey poocho jo jaantey hain. Allah (az’ajawal) farmatey hain,

“Tujhsey (Muhammad) pehley bhi jitney pegambur hum ney bhejay sab hi murd thei jinki taraf hum wahi utaar tey thei, pus tum ahle-kitaab sey phooch lo agar khud tumhey ‘ilm na ho (surah anbiya-ayah 7)”

To ab humein yeh pata hai k ikhtilaaf k dowrein(during) hummey Quran aur Sunnat sey madad leni hai aur agar hum ‘ilm nahi rakhtey to unsey phoochna hai jo yeh ‘ilm (shariyat ka ‘ilm) jaantey hain, aur issi jaga subsey ziyada muskilaat hotin hain. Is ummat mein aaj kal itney firqeh aur itney ikhtilifaat ho gaye hain k dono jamaatoun ko aik ‘ulama pey rujou kerna na-mumkin sa hogaya hai. Aur theek yehi problem ka hul dhoondney k liye menay yeh project kernay ka socha hai, aur inshallah hum apney maqsad mein qamyaab hongey kiyoun k hamari niyatein saaf hain. Aur fikr karney ki zaroorat nahi kiyoun key mein apni taraf sey kuch nahi boloun ga kiyoun k abhi humney yeh teh kiya hai k meray paas ilm k dariya ka aik boond bhi nahi.

Aakhir mein bus itna kehna chahoun ga, key hummey yeh maloom kerna k “kaun hain woh sachey ‘Ulama?” beintiha zaroori hai taakey hum unsey seekh sakhein sacha islam aur jo seekha hai uspey amal ker sakein, inshallah.  Is silsilay mein, inshallah, mein kaafi posts karoun ga kiyoun aik lamba posts sey acha hai k iss badey topic ko chotey hissoun mein baath ker pesh kiya jaye. Inshallah chotein hissey hongey:  “Ta’aruf”, ” ‘ilm ka matlab”, “shariyat ka ‘ilm”, ” ‘ilm ka fayida aur ahmiyat”, ” ‘Ulamayoun ka darja”, “…………….., aur aakhri “Woh log jinsey hummein ‘ilm lena chahiye”

Mein Allah sey duah kerta houn k woh humko ikhlas dei taakey yeh saara kaam hum sirf USSI k liye ker sakein aur yeh duah kerta houn k WOH is koshish ko aik zariya bana dei k jissey hum USKEY qareeb aa sakein.


My Introduction to “Who are the scholars of Islam?”

Assalamolaikum brothers and sisters in islam,

i just wanted to attempt to answer this very important question that is asked by many muslims today. Every time a situation comes up where there is differing among the muslims, the quran tells us to take it back to the Quran and Sunnah, Allah, the mighty and majestic says

 “O you who believe! Obey Allâh and obey the Messenger (Muhammad SAW), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allâh and His Messenger (SAW), if you believe in Allâh and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. (An-Nisa 4:59)

So from this ayah it is clear that if we dispute in anything we must take it back to the Quran and the authentic Sunnah. Now it is clear that lamens like us dont possess enough knowledge to do this on our own, so we must ask the people of knowledge if we dont know, because verily even the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was told to ask the people of knowledge if he wanted to know something. As Allah says in the Quran,

And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures – the Taurât (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. (Al-Anbiya 21:7)

Ok, so we know we take it back to the Quran and Sunnah and because we are lamens we must take it back to the Scholars and this is where the problem occurs. With so many sects and so much differing in the ummah it is tough for the people to take it back to scholars that both agree, are upon guidance. This is what inshallah i will try to help with in this series of posts. Dont worry, it is not going to be my words or explanation because we just established that i am a comman lamen and this is not my position to do so.

In conclusion, we must know who the TRUE people of knowledge are because Allah commands us to seek help and assisntance from them regarding our deen, which is the most important part of our existence. The series of posts will cover “Introduction”, “Definition of Knowledge”, “Knowledge of the Deen (Religion)”, “The Virtue of Knowledge”,  “Levels of the People of Knowledge” , “Characteristics of the Scholars” , “Characteristics of the Mufti (person eligible to give islamic verdicts (fatawa))”, and finally “Those who we should take knowledge from”.

I pray that Allah makes these posts a path for getting closer to HIM for me first and also for everyone that seeks only HIS acceptance.


AQEEDAH: purey deen ki bunyaad, uski ahmiyat aur uski wazahat

‘Aqeedah, agar hum sirf lafz kay matlab pey ghour karein:

Aqeedah aata hai al-‘aqd sai jiska matlab hai “kissi cheez ka judna”

‘Aqeedah woh cheez hai jo k insaan deen kay taur per apnata hai. Jab kaha jaata hai k “is bandey ka Aqeedah acha hai”, iska matlab k usko apney deen pey koi shak nahi.

‘Aqeedah ka ta’luq dil sey hai kiyoun key kissi bhi cheez ka imaan dil mein hota hai aur us imaan ka yaqeen bhi dil mein hi hota hai.

Aqeedah ka matlab shariat k hawaaley sey: 

 iska matlab hai k aap imaan layein Allah pey, Uskey farishtoun pey, Uski kitaboun pey, Uski nabiyoun pey, Qiyamat k din pey, aur imaan layein Qadr pey, bura aur acha. Aur inko kehtey hai iman-e-mufassil.

Shariyat k dou(2) hissay hain: imaan aur afa’al

Jahan tak imaan ki baat hai: Yeh woh cheezain hain jo k fayl sey koi ma’ney nahi rakhti, jaisay k Allah ki Khudayi pey imaan lana aur yeh zimedaari qabool kerna k Ussi ki Ibaadat kerni hai, aur imaan laana un baqi  mazmoonoun pey jo abhi bataye gaye thei (in cheezoun k liye koyi fayl ya jismaani harkat ki zaroorat nahi).  Inhey (In cheezoun ko) (deen ki) bunyaad kaha jaata hai.

Jahan tak afa’al ki baat hai: Yeh woh cheezain hain jinko kernay ka aik khusoosi tareeqa hota hai jaisey kay namaaz, zakaat, roza rakhna, aur baaqi shariyaat mein diye afa’al. Inhey (In cheezoun ko) (deen ki) Shaakhein kaha jaata hai kiyoun k yeh bani jaati hain us imaan pey jo key deen ki bunyaad hai, chahey woh buniyaad sahi ho ya ghalat.

To sahi ‘aqeedah aik aisa buniyaadi kaam hai k jispey pura deen banta hai aur afa’al uskey saath chaltey hain jaisay kay Allah ta’ala fermaatey hain Quran mein, “to jissey bhi apney perwardigaar sey milnay ki aarzoo ho ussey chahiye kay neik ‘aamaal karey aur apney perwardigaaar ki ‘Ibaadat mein kissi ko bhi shareek na karey.”[1]

Aur Woh kehta hai, “Yaqeenan, teri taraf bhi aur tujhsey pehley (key tamaam nabiyoun) ki taraf bhi wahi ki gayi hai kei agar tuney shirk kiya to bila-shuba tera ‘aamaal zaaya ho jaye ga aur bil-yaqeen tu ziyakaroun mein sey ho jaye ga.“[2]

Yeh aayaat aur baaqi aayat jinka matlab aik jaisa hai, aur aisi aayat beintiha hain, nishaandahi kerti hain k aa’maal us waqt tak qabool nahi kiye jayein gei jubtuk wo shirk sey saaf ho. Issi wajah sey Allah ka hur nabi, sub sey pehlay apney logoun ka  aqeedah saaf kerta tha aur woh jaanta tha k yeh subsey ziada ahem cheez hai.

To yeh waazey hai k woh sabsey pehley logoun ko Allah ki ‘ibaadat ki tarhaf bulaatey thei aur unko doosrey cheezoun ki ibaadat sey mana kertay thei, jaisay key Allah quran mein pesh kertay hain, “Hum ney hur ummat(basti, waadiyaan) mein rasool bheja key (logoun!) Sirf Allah ki ‘ibaadat karo aur uskey siwa tamaam ma’abodoun sey bacho.“[3]

Hur pegamber ney apney logoun ko sabsey pehli cheez yehi batayi thi k :” Tum Allah ki ‘ibaadat karo, usskey siwa koi tumhaara ma’bood nahi(Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah: Allah k siwa aur koi ma’bood nahi)”.[4]

Nuh, Hud, Saalih, Shu’ayb, aur baaki jitney bhi nabi thei un sub ney apni qaum ko yehi bola.

Rasool-Allah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Makkah mein tera (13) saal tak sirf logoun ko Tawheed ki taraf bulatey rahey aur unka aqeedah sahi kertay rahey kiyoun key yeh humaarey deen ki buniyaad hai jis par pura deen kharha hai. Har zamaney mein da’ai aur mujaddedeen Ambiah aur rasooloun ke pegham ko zinda kertey rahey hain. Unho ney bhi apni dawat ka aaghaaz Tawheed aur sahi aqeedah sey kiya, aur phir uskey baad unho ney Islam ki doosri cheezoun ko apni tawajjo di.

Aqeedah: A Clarification of its Importance and Foundation for Which the Religion is built upon

‘Aqeedah linguistically: The word aqeedah is taken from al-‘aqd which is the connection of something.

‘Aqeedah is that which mankind practices as a religion. It is said, “He has good ‘aqeedah” meaning it is free of doubt.

‘Aqeedah is an action of the heart which is a belief the heart has for something as well as its affirmation for that matter.

‘Aqeedah according to the Sharee’ah:

It is the belief in Allaah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the last day, and belief in the qadr, good and bad. And these are called the articles of faith.

The Sharee’ah is divided into two categories: beliefs and actions

As for the beliefs: They are those matters that are not related to a manner of action such as belief in the Lordship of Allaah and the obligation to worship Him and belief in the remainder of the articles of faith mentioned (these do not have an action of the body parts related to it). This (these beliefs) is known as the foundation.

And as for actions: They are those matters that have a specific manner in which they should be performed such as prayer, zakaat, fasting, and the rest of the legislated practices. This (these actions) is called branches because they are built upon beliefs, be they correct or incorrect

So the correct ‘aqeedah is the groundwork that the religion is built upon and actions are accompanied with it as Allaah ta’ala says,“So whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord.”[1]

And He says: “And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad – sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), as it was to those (Allaah’s Messengers) before you: “If you join others in worship with Allaah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.”[2]

These verses and all those with similar meaning, and they are many, indicate that actions are not accepted except that they are pure of shirk. Thus we see the importance of the Messengers – may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them all – in cleansing creed firstly.

So the first thing that they called their people to was to the worship of Allaah alone and leaving off worship of all others besides Him as Allaah says:“And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allaah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taaghoot (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taaghoot besides Allaah)”[3]

For every messenger, the first thing they told their people was:“O my people! Worship Allaah! You have no other Ilaah (God) but Him. (Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah: none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah).”[4]

It was said by Nuh, Hud, Saalih, Shu’ayb, and the rest of the prophets to their people.

The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) stayed in Makkah after being sent for thirteen years calling the people to Tawheed and correcting the creed because it is the foundation in which religion is built upon.

Many of the callers and reformers in every time have emulated the Prophets and Messengers. They begin their call with Tawheed and rectification of the creed and after that they gave attention to the other areas of the religion.

Imaam al-Awzaa”ee said, “Patiently restrict yourselves to the sunnah, stop where the people stopped, say what they said, avoid what they avoided. Take to the path of the salaf, for indeed what was sufficient for them was sufficient for you.” [Al-Hujjah of Ismail Abu Fadhl (6/A-B)]

Mein kiyoun padhoun Allah ka sacha deen?

Mein kiyoun padhoun? 

Bahut saaloun pehley, Uzbekistan mein aik andha bacha paida hua. Us bachey ki ammi aik muminaa theen aur usko hamesha Allah pey bharosa tha k Wohi Aik hai jo uskey bachey ki aankh ki roshni waapis lauta sakta hai. Us maa ney bahut duayein karin apney betay ki aankhoun ki roshni k liye, aur beshak kuch saaloun baad us bachey ko uski aankhen waapis mil gayein.

Woh maan widwaa ho chuki thi, aur uska bacha anaath. Woh apney bachey ko lekar chali gayi Makkah taakey uska beta islami taaleem haasil kersakey. Usney jiddo-jehd kerkay apney bachey ko ulamayoun ka halaqaat mein shaamil kerwaya, aur uni halqayoun mein us bachey ney hadeeth ki science mein kamyaabi haasil kari. Us bachey ney bahut dur dur jaa ker Allah key Rasool (salallahu-alaihi-wasallam) ki hadeethoun ko dhooonda. Koi bhi hadeeth ko apnaney sey pehley woh hamesha 2-rikat nafil padhta tha. Uski maa ney uska naam Muhammad ibn Is’mail rakha. Aur hum is bachey ko inhin hadeethoun, aur unpey jo kitabein usney likhi, uski waja sey jaantey hain. Aur is bachey ney woh kitaab likhi jo Quran key baad hamaari aankhoun mein sabsey saheeh hai, aur us kitaab ka naam hai Saheeh Al-Imam Al-Bukhari!

Aik aur jagaa, aik aur waqt mein; Baghdad ki thandi huwayein aik aur bachey ko neend sey utha deti theen. Fajr sey bahut pehley, uski maa us bachey ko garam shawl mein lapeit ker usko raat ke andherey mein masjid tak lei ker jaati thi taakey woh sahi salaamat masjid tak pohonch jaye. Fajr key baad woh bacha us zamaney ka subsey badey ulemaoun ko hadeethein sunata tha. Phir, jub sooraj ki roshni kaafi waazey ho jati thi to woh maa apney betay ko masjid k bahir milti thi aur phir dono saath ghar jaatey thei. Woh aik bahut hi mazboot aurat thi, ismey koi shak nahi, kiyoun key uski jiddo-jehd sey uska bacha muslim ummat ka aik bahut bada imaam bana. Aik aisa imaam jiska naam tha Ahmad ibn Hanbal.

Meray piyaarey bhaiyoun aur bhenoun, hummein kiyoun koshish kerni chahiye k hum in dono mashoor Islam key sitaroun ki raah per chalein? Kiyoun key jo ‘ilm aap inshallah haasil karein gey woh ‘ilm bahut anokha hai. Yeh ‘ilm hai Allah ki shariyat ka aur yeh jaidaad hai Uskey nabi (salallahu-alaihi-wasallam) ki. Aur yeh humaara farz hai k hum is jaidaad ko mehfooz aur hur burayi sey dur rakhein, lekin yeh us waqt tak na-mumkin hai jub tak hummey aisey sanjeeda bhai aur bhenain na milein jo din raat ‘ilm haasil kerain.  Aur yeh ‘ilm ka matlab hai ussey padhna, ussey samajhna, aur phir ussey doosroun ko sikhaana.

Aye Allah hum logoun ko unmein shaamil kar jinkey paas ikhlaas hai, aur woh jo is deen ki hifaazat kertay hain aur jo huzoor ki jaidaad(shariyat ka ‘ilm) ko haasil kertay hain, ameen!

Why should I study the religion of TRUTH?

Why should I study?

Many years ago in Uzbekistan, a baby boy was born blind. His Mother, the strong mu’minah that she was, did not lose sight of He who had the Power to cure him. She prayed and prayed for her son’s sight. And within a few years, the boy regained his eyes.

She was widowed, the boy orphaned. She traveled with him to Makkah so that he could receive an Islamic education. She arranged for him to attend the circles of the scholars, and in those circles, he excelled in the science of hadith. He traveled to distant villages in search of the most authentic sayings of Rasulullah (صلي الله عليه وسلم). He would pray two raka’at before accepting a hadith. His mother named him Muhammad ibn Isma’il. And many of us know him today by the book he compiled, the book that stands after the Qur’an in authenticity: Saheeh Al-Imam Al-Bukhari!

In another land, in another time, chilly Baghdad winds would wake up another boy. Much before Fajr, his mother would bundle him in warm shawls and escort him through the darkness, making sure he reached the Masjid safely. After Fajr, she would wait for him as he read hadith to the biggest scholars of the land. Then, long after the sun had come up, she would meet him outside, and together, they would walk home. She was a strong mother indeed, for her son grew up to become an Imam of the Muslim Ummah, an Imam by the name of Ahmad ibn Hanbal.

Dear brothers and sisters, why should we try to follow in the footsteps of these–and many other–stars of Islam? The information that we shall in sha’ Allah learn is not like anything else. This knowledge is the law of Allah and the inheritance of the prophets. It is our duty to preserve and protect the estate of Rasulullah (صلي الله عليه وسلم), something that cannot happen without there being serious and sincere brothers and sisters spending long days and nights reading, reflecting, and teaching others.

May Allah make us among those who are sincere, and whom protect the deen and inherit the inheritance of the prophets, ameen!

-(beautiful article answering the question that every student of knowledge has before he treads the path of knowledge, a  simple answer is …… you should study because you never know which little or big thing will please Allah and thus become the reason for HIM forgiving you and entering you into paradise out of HIS mercy.-just my two cents)

Establish the Islamic state
in your hearts (and) it will be
established for you upon your earth

Said the Muhaddith of this era, the reviver of the religion in this century, the Shaykh of Islaam, Muhammad Naasir-ud-deen Al-Albaani (May Allaah have mercy upon him):
              “…If we want honour from Allaah, the Blessed, the Most High and that he lifts the humiliation from us…, then it is not (simply) sufficient for that in what we have pointed out. (It is not sufficient to just know) the obligation of correcting concepts and removing the opinions which have misinterpreted the proofs of the sharee’ah amongst the people of knowledge and fiqh. Rather, there is something else out there which is very important – and it is the essence of correcting the concepts; indeed, it is action. Knowledge is the vehicle for action and when a person learns and his knowledge is absolutely clear and then he does not act upon it, then it is extremely obvious that this knowledge will not bear
any fruits. Thus, it is necessary that the action be linked with this knowledge. It is obligatory upon the people of knowledge that they assume responsibility for the tarbiya’ (cultivation) of the new Muslim generation in light of what has been established from the Qur’aan and Sunnah. It is not permissible for us to leave the people to that which they have
inherited from concepts and mistakes, with some of these being definitely false according to the consensus of the Imaams and others being differed upon having some validity by way of observation, Ijtihaad and opinion. And some of this Ijtihaad and opinion is in conflict with the Sunnah.
               So, after the ‘tasfiyah’ (purification) of these matters and the clarification of what is obligatory to proceed and advance upon, it is necessary to cultivate the new generation upon this authentic knowledge. This is the ‘Tarbiya’, which will produce for us the pure Islamic society…
